We have a few projects in production with old milestones, but I would wait for at least m5 if I were you, because we are really very close to 1.0 now.

The flat file support is designed to be used without any dependencies on the batch domain model (spring-batch-infratsrure.jar). We are also talking about maybe re-packaging it to not even have the "batch" package name, so watch out for that in m5.

Thanks Dave for this nice article that shows some of the changes you introduced in spring batch m4.
I can't wait for m5 to play with the batch namespace, it does make thing easier.

In fact I have been following spring batch progress for quite a bit now and I am wondering if it can be production material or shall we wait for a production release.

An other question I have on my mind is whether you advise to use the flat file reader capabilities of spring batch (and its nice integration in a a spring project) by itself or should we prefer (for performance reasons maybe ?) a custom solution to load flat files into an application that doesn't need all the batch domain model????

Thanx for your great job anyway.
