All,
In response to user comments (thank you) I have made a minor update to this item to indicate that some kernel bundles are visible in the User Region. More detail is coming in a future post.

Hi Fred (and Alex),

We don't talk about a Kernel Region as such—instead the kernel creates the User Region in the OSGi framework using nested frameworks as they are currently implemented in Equinox. We intend to make use of the OSGi nested frameworks specification (RFC 138) in our future design.

We make no use of OSGi Remote Services discovery—the kernel installs some bundles in the User Region and shares certain services.

Thanks for the interest.

This sounds like an interesting use case of nested OSGi frameworks. Is that the case?
