Hi Russ,

Any word on when you might post the follow ups you mentioned? I've been checking back every now and again and no word?

Cheers,

Hi Kris,

One of the goals of this series will be to show interoperability with web services for sure, but actually I was planning to take advantage of the WS adapter out of the box with Spring Integration. However once seeing an example it should be relatively trivial to add JAX-WS to the mix, and I'll certainly bear that in mind for future posts.

Thanks for the comment!

Hi Adrian,

Very good point, and you've actually pre-empted my next blog post in the series that I'm just finishing up right now.

In the next post we'll first refactor the configuration into resources.groovy, to make it groovier if you will. Then I'll explain why even that is unsatisfying in terms of working within the goals of Grails and convention over configuration, which will lead us onto ... well, I'll leave that till I post the entry. Expect to see it live soon.

Cheers,
Russ

Why use XML for bean configuration? Its clearer and less verbose to use Groovy in resources.groovy rather than XML in resources.xml.

Thanks for sharing this. I am new to grails/groovy bandwagon but I am hooked on the productivity gains this platform offers. Wondering if it would be possible to combine JAX-WS, Grails and Spring Integration? That will be a great combination. Would love to see a blog post on these three.
